ILXQuant Institutional Accumulation Index
Buys the stocks institutions are moving into, ranking the cross-section on the quarter-over-quarter growth in both the number of institutions reporting a position and the total institutionally-held share count. The rationale is breadth -- under short-sale constraints a stock held by few institutions carries hidden pessimism in its price, so a rising holder count signals that pessimism resolving. Built from 13F filings, which arrive quarterly with a 45-day reporting lag.
