Fixed-basket index of 18 companies spanning the full photonics value chain -- the generation, manipulation, measurement and application of light. Five layers are represented: light sources (IPG Photonics, Ushio, Lumibird), optical components and precision glass (Coherent, Lumentum, Largan, HOYA, LightPath, Gooch and Housego), photonic modules and contract manufacture (Applied Optoelectronics, Fabrinet), photonic instruments and metrology (Hamamatsu, Viavi, MKS, Novanta, Jenoptik), and downstream optical systems (Nikon, Carl Zeiss Meditec). Deliberately global -- the deepest optics intellectual property sits in Japan, Germany, Taiwan, the UK and France rather than in the US. Rebalances quarterly to equal weight. Non-USD holdings are converted to USD.
