ILXQuant Catastrophe Risk and Specialty Insurance Basket Index
Fixed-basket index of 10 specialty insurance and reinsurance companies repricing the world's most mispriced risk. Mainstream insurers are exiting catastrophe zones -- Allstate and State Farm have stopped writing policies in California and Florida. This forces buyers into the Excess and Surplus market where Palomar Holdings and Kinsale Capital operate without rate caps, with premiums growing 15-40 percent annually. RenaissanceRe and Arch Capital are achieving 30-40 percent rate increases for catastrophe reinsurance in the strongest hardening cycle in 20 years. Ryan Specialty distributes E+S insurance. Willis Towers Watson provides reinsurance analytics. Erie and Selective represent best-in-class regional P+C with pricing power. Rebalances quarterly to equal weight.
